Where is the engineering faculty?

Covering an area of 45000 m2, Faculty of Engineering is located on İki Eylül Campus In addition to the Faculty of Engineering, the campus includes the Faculty of Architecture and Design, the School of Foreign Languages, the Faculty of Aeronautics and Space Sciences, the Faculty of Sports Sciences, and the Institute of Earth and Space Sciences. In addition,  there is a civil airport under the supervision of the Faculty of Aeronautics and Space Sciences, a sports arena of international standard, a football stadium, open spaces, and spaces for social activities. There are public transport vehicles (bus and dolmuş) to and from the city.  There is no direct lşne of transportation from the university to the coach station and train station. On the other hand, the airport located on the İki Eylül Campus is five hundred meters away from the faculty. How accessible is the faculty?

Faculty buildings consist of two building groups placed around a square/road. The first building group consists of the Dean's Office, Architecture, and Industrial Engineering departments; the second building group includes the Computer, Electric-Electronics, Canteen/Library/Conference Hall and Resting Room, Materials, Chemistry, Civil, Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering departments, the Ceramics Research Center (SAM) as well as Environment, Application and Research Center. Both building groups are connected to each other both on the ground floor and on the first floor. The faculty buldings are two storeys including the ground floor. The entrances of five of the sections, including the canteen, which are connected to each other are accessible for the disabled. There are a total of 6 disabled toilets on the ground floor of both building groups. Wheelchair and sign language support can be provided to those who need it. In terms of accessibility, there is continuous cooperation with the Disabled Students Unit of the university.

What kind of opportunities does Eskişehir offer to students?

The city ranks 5th in the cinema audience rankings and offers 2 symphony orchestras, 10 theaters, 4 big shopping malls, and entertainment opportunities for every budget, rendering Eskisehir a student paradise. What are the social opportunities on İki Eylül Campus?

There is a cafeteria that can serve 3000 people, a cafeteria open to students and employees in addition to cafes that offer different food options, and canteens in each unit. The faculty of Sports Sciences offers students opportunities to do sports and learn. Additionally, students from the Faculty of Engineering actively participate in nearly fifty student clubs at our university. To this end, there are many Clubs (Computer, Nature and Environment, Construction, Material Technologies, Industrial Engineering, IEEE, Chemical Technologies) with members primarily from our faculty. These clubs are supervised by our faculty members.

Are there any accommodation facilities on İki Eylül Campus?

Dormitories affiliated with the Credit and Hostels Institution (KYK) are located on Yunus Emre Campus and near the ESOGU campus. However, the construction of KYK dormitory buildings will commence on the İki Eylül campus in the near future. In addition, private dormitories catering to the needs of students in the city, there are studio apartments and flats that can appeal to all students.

Are there medical facilities on İki Eylül Campus?

There is a health center on İki Eylül Campus where emergency or simple interventions and procedures can be performed.

How can I access information about my university, faculty, and department?

Also, when you visit our faculties and departments, you can communicate with faculty and department administrations, faculty members, and our Student Affairs Unit on any subject.

What does "medium of instruction" mean?

The language of instruction is 100% English in the departments of Computer, Electrical-Electronics, Materials Science and Engineering. In addition, the departments of Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering are 30 % English medium. An English placement test is administered by the School of Foreign Languages to assess the English proficiency level of the students. In the case of studying English at the School of Foreign Languages, the level of English proficiency will be described as B2 level in the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Can I learn another foreign language during my studies?

The Faculty of Engineering also offers opportunities to learn a second foreign language apart from English, which is the medium of instruction. You always have the chance to learn a second foreign language at a certain level by enrolling in one of the offered foreign language elective courses such as French, German, Russian and Chinese.

Can I go abroad via exchange programmes?

Considering the universal dimension of engineering education today, both scientific and cultural exchange programs are essential to accomplish the goals of continuous education. Therefore, within the framework of the university's policy and vision, students are encouraged to go abroad and many opportunities are offered to them for this end. Erasmus student exchange programme is one of the important opportunities for enrolling in courses in many European universities. In addition, Erasmus offers you the opportunity to work abroad for summer internships.

What are double major and minor degrees? What are the requirements? Koşulları nelerdir?

Double Major is a programme that enables students who meet the requirements to take courses simultaneously from two different programs of the same higher education institution and to be awarded two separate degrees. A minor is a program that enables students enrolled in a programme to receive a document (minor certificate) by taking a limited number of courses in another program in the same higher education institution, provided that they meet the stipulated criteria. Students are admitted to the Double Major and Minor Programmes in the departments of our faculty within the announced course capacities and application conditions each semester.

What is compulsory internship?

One of the most important components of engineering education, as it is a practice-based field, is the internship you will complete in a private/public institution in your area of study. Internship is mostly in summer months. Depending on your department, you are to go through a 40 or 60-workday period of internship. The internships are assessed by the specific internship committee of each department. Department Internship Committee will inform and guide you about the places where you can do your internship.

Is transfer between departments possible?

Transfers are possible at the beginning of the third semester as the quotas determined for equivalent programmes permit. GPA and medium of instruction are the points of consideration for the transfer.

Can students meet with the instructors whenever they wish?

Students are always welcome to meet with the instructors. In addition, Academic Advisors, who will monitor and assist each student throughout their four-year education, are in close contact with the students.

Is financial support offered for students during undergraduate education?

Students are encouraged and financially supported to present papers and posters in international scientific conventions, participate in international competitions,  exhibit artistic works and folk dances in art circles. In addition, students can be employed as part-time student employees in various units.

What are the job prospects after graduation? Where do the graduates work?

Due to the need for design and innovation in the world and in our country, the interest in Engineering disciplines has been on the rise for the last 30 years. Engineering education equips people with analytical thinking ability and problem-solving skills. These can be utilised in business administration, human resources, sales and marketing, banking, telecommunications, the defense industry, etc. Our graduates are in demand in many professions and important decision-making positions.
In addition, all of our programmes are accredited by MÜDEK (Engineering Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association). Because MÜDEK received the authorization to issue the EUR-ACE Label from the ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education) at the beginning of 2009 and has been a full member (Full Signatory) of the IEA (International Engineering Alliance) Washington Accord since 2011, internationally recognised documents labeled EUR-ACE and Washington Accord are awarded to our students who graduate from accredited departments. The education provided by our faculty is of high-quality thanks to competent academic staff, strong infrastructure and laboratory facilities, accredited departments, international and domestic exchange programmes, dual degree opportunities abroad, and the effectiveness of University-Industry Cooperation. Our graduates work in leading private/public institutions in both national and international fields, continue their careers on the academic track, or establish their own businesses.

What are the accredited departments?

All departments of our faculty are accredited by MÜDEK by fulfilling the necessary criteria. These criteria include the accomplishment of learning outcomes, the structure of the courses, wide range of elective courses, the improvements of courses in the faculty, as well as monitoring of the extent to which the learning outcomes are useful in our alumni's professional life. The expectations of other shareholders (sector, society, etc) are taken into consideration in the process of accreditation. 

How can I be admitted to Master's and Doctorate Programmes?

In all departments of our faculty, master's and doctorate programmes are offered following a 4-year undergraduate education.  Students are admitted to these programs, based on the ranking of success (GPA, national Postgraduate Education Exam - ALES- score, and foreign language exam score) according to the quotas determined by the department. Thanks to TÜBİTAK and similar project funds, which you will design with your academic advisors during your graduate education, and project-based SAN-TEZ programmes by the Ministry of Technology and Industry, you can receive financial support during the master's and doctorate process, and contribute to the national scientific database with your thesis.
